Cap Details

  • 1941 to the 1943 period, German Army, Peaked Service Cap "Schirmmutze", for an Officer serving in the Bicycle/Motorcycle branch of the service

  • This cap is one of the rarest of WWII period, German Army, Officer's caps. This brown piping color was only adopted for wear between 1941 and 1943, or approximately for 1 1/2 years before it changed. The color was worn by both Bicycle and Motorcycle troops, usually of reconnaissance and motorized units. The exterior is in excellent condition, with a partial "crusher" shape. There are a few tiny chips to the "Vulkanfiber" edge. The interior is "George Rieder - Munchen" marked, and showes light wear. The sweat shield has the owner's initials hole-punched in of "Dr. BS." Cap has an aluminum eagle and bullion wreath and proper Officer's chin cords. The internal stiffening wire has been removed as was popular at the time to give the cap a combat or crusher appearance. This is a truly rare and beautiful specimen, and a great bargain!
