This hat is dated 1943. It is a German, Red Cross hat as worn by Officer's and Enlistedmen alike. This hat is a winter, pile
"Pelzmutze," made out of wool and rabbit fur. The color of the wool body closely resembles the black color as worn by
Panzer troops. However, it's interwoven grey fibers give this hat a lighter than black shading as found on many German
Red Cross uniforms. The Germans nationalized the Red Cross in Nazi Germany. They then gave them the new title of the
"German Red Cross," and put them under full Nazi control. German Red Cross units served alongside all branches of their
military throughout the war. This hat is dated and maker marked inside "Wiener Mutzen-Lago." Condition is excellent throughout.
