1904 dated British Army
"The King's Royal Rifle Corps." Dress Cap
Cap Details
1904 dated, British Army, "The King's Royal Rifle Corps.", Dress Cap
This dress cap is dated 1904. It is a British Army dress cap for "The King's Royal Rifle Corps." This corps. was made up of several regiments
(the 60th, later the 95th, and the Rifle Brigade) in 1797. They were the very frist to adopt a green uniform which may be
considered the first camouflage uniform ever worn. Due to their German and Austrian herritage they were the only troops to be allowed
to wear moustaches. The Rifle Regiments were very similar in organization to the Light Infantry Regiments of the
time, with training being the same. They were considered as specialist troops (Infantry), and today their linneage can
be tied to that of the Commando units. This dress cap's exterior is MINT condition! - Which is quite remarkable
due to it's great age. The interior is excellent and has a great many ink stamps/tags delineating it's date, unit ("K.R.R."),
the War Department "W.D.", solider's serial number, etc. This rare cap is impossible to improve upon, and a fantastic specimen.
