Post 1991 Period, Iraqi Army, Brigadier General's, Camouflage
Uniform
Uniform Details
This Iraqi Army Camouflage uniform has no tags, ink stamps, and/or identifying patches. It is believed to be of the post 1991
Desert Storm period. Contemporay T.V. news reel film footage seems to confirm that dating. The epaulettes are of the slip-on
variety, and are for a Brigadier General. There is 1 Arabic size (?) tag in the neck area. This uniform includes it's matching
pattern trousers. Condition of both pieces is excellent. There are 2 buttons that are included and which need re-sewing.
There is a pulled thread(s) on the left breast.
Comments from the Curator:
Unfortunately very little is known about the general officer's of the new Iraqi Army. No doubt security measures are part of
the reason for this. The rarity of this uniform is great as the new Iraqi Army is still quite small in number. Before 1991 they had
over 8,000 Generals - which is a staggering number. But it's anyone's guess how many they have now (perhaps due to their
short life span!). This makes this uniform even more rare than war time examples. Here is a very affordable, and yet even more
topical specimen.
