This uniform is believed to date from the 1950's to the 1960's period. It is a commercially made (as expected) uniform.
They were privately purchased by women who worked and/or volunteered for the American Red Cross. The uniform includes
it's matching skirt. The buttons are the sewn-on type. The shoulder board epaulettes and buttons are included and are of the
removable type. There is very hard to notice trace evidence of there once being an A.R.C. patch sewn on the upper left cuff.
A correct type patch can be supplied at extra cost. The sizes of both garments is un-marked but appears to run in the usual
smaller size range. Condition on both pieces is in the very desirable MINT condition.
Comments from the Curator:
American Red Cross woman's uniforms are often overlooked by collectors today. This is a great shame as there are
almost limitless varrieties and sub-varrieties of these uniforms. It is amazing of just how many divergences an be found when examining
these very interesting uniforms. Collectors are actively seeking out and purchasing all WWII period types, thus escalleting prices.
But so far, these post war types are still very affordable for most collectors budgets, and thus in reach. This inexpensive example
would make a fine addition to any collection - and one that you did not have to break the piggy bank over!
