Post 1946 period, US Army, 1944 Pattern, "IKE" Jacket belonging
to a Cavalry Private serving in the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment
Uniform Details
This uniform dates sometime after May of 1946 to no later than 1960. It is a US Army, 1944 Pattern, "Jackets, Wool, O.D.,
Pattern Date 5-27-46, Spec. No. 437-B", or "IKE" style of a jacket. This jacket belonged to a Cavalry, Private, serving in the 2nd
Armored Cavalry Regiment. Pinned to the top left lapel is the brass metal insignia of service in the Cavalry branch of the service.
Sewn to the top of the left sleeve is a round shaped cloth patch for service in the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment. This soldier
was awarded serveral award ribbons which are found pinned to the top of the left breast pocket flap, they are from left to right, and
from the top to bottom, as follows: the "Good Conduct Medal", the "European/African/Middle Eastern Campaign Medal",
"WWII Victory Medal", the "Army of Occupation of Germany Medal". To help complete this uniform the museum had added a O.D.
color, Enlisted Man's style shirt, a 1945 dated belt and buckle, a khaki color tie, a M-1950 Model, Cap, Garrison, Wool, O.D.,
Enlisted Man's, and which is this case is Cavalry branch color piped, and June 25th, 1946 dated trousers. Condition is excellent
to mint throughout. Jacket is a very desirable 38 regular size. This is a wonderful Armored/Cavalry grouping once belonging
to a WWII veteran. Only needs a pair of combat boots to march again.
