Uniform Details

  • April, 1973 dated, West German ("G.F.R."), Army, Panzer Private's, Service Uniform

  • This uniform is dated April, 1973 inside. It is a West German (i.e.: "German Federal Republic", or "G.F.R."), Army, service dress uniform. The plain epqulettes and lack of shoulder rank insignia indicated that this soldier is a "Schutze" (or "Private"). The pink color piping on the epaulettes, and as a collar tab underlayment color, indicate that this private served in the Panzer Corps (i.e.: "Tank Corps"). There is evidence that there was a Panzer unit patch once sewn on the upper left shoulder. This patch was found in one of the jacket's pockets, and it indicates service in the 15th Panzer Brigade of the 5th Panzer Division. This uniform is in MINT! condition, but could use some ironing. *NOTE to collector: An educated collector already knows how very expensive WWIIperiod Panzer uniforms are. However, these same collectors usually overlook the often rarer East and West German Panzer types. This is a great shame! While in general East German Army uniforms are reasonably obtainable these days, East German Panzer uniforms are very hard to find, especially the pink piped early types. These East German uniforms bring in very high prices if ever encountered. Now compare that fact to the even rarer West German Panzer types which are all but impossible to find, and am appreciation of the rarity and price becomes evident. Ask yourself this question: How many West German Panzer uniforms have I ever seen? The answer is probably suprising even to the most senior of collectors. Here is your chance to own a rare, and yet very affordable Panzer uniform.
