December 28th, 1951 dated, US Army, M-1950 Model, "Jackets, Wool, O.D., M-1950,"
belonging to Tanker, Private, serving in the 3rd Armored Division
This jacket is dated, December 28th, 1951. It is a US Army M-1950 Model, "Jacket, Wool, O.D., M-1950", or "IKE" style of a jacket.
The inside pocket cloth tag reads also that it was made to this Spec. "MIL-J-10801A (Q.M.C.)". This IKE jacket belonged to
a Private as is evidenced by the lack of sleeve rank stripes. He served as a Tanker in the 3rd Armored Division as evidenced by the
Tank Corps. round shape brass insignia pinned to the collar, and by the 3rd Armored Division triangular shape cloth patch
found sewn to the upper left shoulder. The jacket shows interior evidence of once having awards/medals. The jacket is
also in a much-in-demand larger size (36XL) so impossilbe to find these days (reenactors take note!). The jacket is in excellent
overall condition with only a few very tiny moth bites. The matching trousers that come with this uniform are in MINT! condition.
They have an interior cloth tag which reads: "Trousers, Wool, O.D. M-1952 (are dated December 18th, 1952), Spec. MIL-T-12151
(Q.M.C.) Pattern Date 31 July 1952". Their size is a larger 33W X 31L which compliments the jacket well. This Tanker's IKE
jacket is an excellent example.
