  • November 25th, 1914 period, US Army, 1917 Pattern, 4 Pocket Service Coat, belonging to an Infantry, Private named: "Paul Mitchel Hall", serving in the 30th "Old Hickory"Infantry Division

  • This uniform is of the November 25th, 1914 period. It is a US Army, 1917 Pattern, 4 Pocket Service Coat. It belonged to an Infantry, Private named: "Paul Mitchel Hall." The dating and name were provided by the family's descendents who retained the records of the soldier. This uniform shows that Hall served in "L" Company of the 3rd Battalion of the 30th, "Old Hickory" Infantry Division. This is evidenced by the bronze collar insignia and the frayed cloth patch sewn on the left shoulder. The patch placement indicates service into late 1918. The red "V" patch sewn to the middle of the left sleeve indicates that Hall was soon to be discharged from the service. The lower left cuff once had 2 "V" patches (retained by the family) indicating that Hall served for 1 year overseas. This WWI period, uniform is all original. It has one right sleeve period repair and only a few very tiny moth holes present. The pocket seams are all loose and need a tailor to restich (a minor task for any tailor). WWI period uniforms are rapidly dissappearing from the collector market due to their great popularity and combined great age. Combat uniforms such as this are the most sought after of all. With a little sewing this uniform would make a fine addition to any collection.
