  • Includes 9 pages of limited biographical/historical information (not much information available)

  • Comments from the Curator:

Anyone who has ever collected General's uniforms for any length of time knows that British Army types are some of the hardest to acquire. If one ever does become available, it invariably turns out to be a much less valuable post WWII specimen. The museum's collection of over 210 Generals only includes 2 British Army Generals that are of the World War II period. This grouping is unique in that the jacket is named/attributed to Lieutenant Colonel Abraham, thus providing excellent provenance. It is very common for an officer to wear the same jacket for many years (frugality), upgrading it's rank insignia as the officer went up in rank along the way. The aged look and wear found on this jacket clearly shows many years of had use by the officer. This wear adds much character to this specimen. Note: British Army personnel records are probably the most closed to public scrutiny of any nation's records. This makes biographical/historical research almost impossible these days. But at least there is some data available on General Abraham. Some of the high points in his career are:

  • served in World War II
  • served as a General in WWII
  • served in the North Arica
  • served in Burma
  • served in India (many positions over several years)
  • was a part of the D-Day planning

  • Further research is being done to fill in the missing gaps in his career, which should eventually prove to be very interesting indeed.
