1983 period, Czechoslovakian Army, Infantry Colonel General Karel Rusov's, Service Dress Uniform, serving as the Vice Minister of Defense of Czechoslovakia

Uniform is of the 1983 period, proof of provenance is provided by an invatation card found in the pocket of the uniform. The card is embossed with the crest of Austria, and translates as follows:

"The Ambassador of Austria to Czechoslovakia Karel Peterlik and his wife, duly invite the Vice Minister of Defense of the Czechoslovakian Nation, Colonel General, and his wife, Karel Rusov, to a garden party in your honor, on Sunday, the 9th of September, 1983 at 6:00pm, in Prague."

Uniform includes matching trousers

Uniform includes his General's peaked service cap

Also includes his white shirt which has an additional pair of Czech Colonel General's epaulettes

His O.D. color tie is also present

Other items found in a pocket are: a comb, and 3 Canadian lapel pins (for joint maneuvers)

Uniform is complete with direct embroidered Generals collar insignia leaves

Each shoulder has a Colonel General's epaulette

Shows evidence of 2 right side breast badges of screw back design (USSR?)

Has a massive 29 ribbon bar, which is direct sewn-on the jacket. Unfortunately these ribbons are not known at this time except for No. 9 which is for the "Medal for Service to the Homeland". Proper identification of these other ribbons would greatly increase this grouping's value.

Condition - Very Good; has a few tiny moth holes in front that are very minor in nature. Hat has 1 moth hole on edge. Trousers are excellent.

Comments from the Curator:

Czechoslovakian General's uniforms are basically non-existant in any collection. The museum's collection of over 210 General's uniforms only has ONE other Czech General in attendance, besides this example being offered for sale. In fact, this General's uniform is even better than the one that the museum is keeping, however the "keeper" is a priceless pre-WWII example (althrough is unfortunately is unnamed). This Colonel General being offered is both named and of tremendous historical significance. General Rusov is the Vice Minister of Defense (i.e.: the 2nd in Command of all defense matters), which is an unbelievebly high position in both the military and government. If this General were a Tank General he would never have been offered for sale by the museum. Here is your chance to acquire a reasonably priced ultra-rare Czech General of both high rank stature, and historical significance.
