1947 period uniform.
British Army, service dress uniform.
Belonged to a Brigadier
(i.e.: a Senior Colonel or a Low General),
named: "Robert St. George Tyldesely Ransome".
1935 to 1937 he was an instructor at the Royal Military College
at Sandhurst.
Attended the Staff College from 1938 to 1939.
1939 and 1940 he served with the ill fated British Expeditionary Force in France.
In 1940 an instructor at the Senior Staff College. Served in the Mediterranean and Middle East theaters of operations between 1941 and 1943.
Was Commanding Officer of the 11th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers in the Middle East.
Director of Administrative Planning at the War Office between 1943 and 1946.
Vice Quartermaster General to the Forces in 1946.
He attended the Imperial Defense College in 1947, then becoming a Brigadier, General Staff, General
Headquarters Far East in 1948.
Ransome then went to Malaya between 1949 and 1950. Commander of the 264th Scottish Beach Brigade of the Territorial Army in 1950.
Service Advisor, United Kingdom High Commission in Germany from 1954 to 1955.
Head of Joint Services Liaison Organization, British Army of the Rhine from 1955 to 1958.
Ransome retired in 1958.
Honorary Deputy Colonel of the Royal Fusiliers between 1962 and 1963.
While this uniform is that of a Brigadier, a rank Ransome obtained in November of 1947, he went on to become a
Major General in July of 1955. This uniform includes Ransome's peaked service cap, a khaki color tie, and a
1944 dated shirt.
