Army Green Uniform
Uniform is of the early 1960's period.
U.S. Army, Coat, Man's, Service, Army Green 44 Shade.
Belonged to a Mechanized Infrantry,
Brigadier General (i.e.: a 1 Star General), named: "Richard Risden 019278".
Nick-named "Pop" by his classmates.
Assigned to the 5 th Infantry Regiment in Maine as a Company Commander.
In 1936 served in the 65 th Infantry Regiment in Puerto Rico.
In 1938 assigned to the 29 th Infantry Regiment.
Infantry School in 1939, then assigned to the 1 st Infantry Division as a Company Commander in the 26 th Infantry
Regiment.
In 1940 Assistant Chief Of Staff , G-1 in the 2 nd Armored Division.
Attended Command And General Staff School and then returned to the 2 nd Armored Division in 1941.
Spent 3 years in the Adjutant General's Office in Washington, D.C.
After attending the Army-Navy Staff College he was assigned to the
I I Corps. in Salzburg, Austria, and later serving as the Adjutant General in the 7 th Army and 3 rd Army in
Germany.
In 1947 appointed G-1, Berlin Command.
1948 served as G-1, Headquarters, Military District Of Washington.
He held that post for 3 years.
Attended the Advanced Infantry Officer's Course.
Sent to Korea in 1952, assuming Command of the 7 th Infantry Division's 17 th Infantry Regiment.
Appointed Chief Of Staff of the 7 th Infantry Division later that same year.
Sewn to his upper left sleeve is a round shaped cloth patch for service in the 9 th Mechanized Infantry
Division.
The lower right sleeve has 5 small bar shaped cloth patches indicating that General Risden has served
for 2 1 / 2 years overseas.
Sewn to the upper right sleeve is a round shaped cloth patch for former service in the
7 th Mechanized Infantry Division. General Risden was awarded many awards and medals, including the:
