The Soviet block nations produced many models of R.P.G.'s over the years. This model is of East German origin. It is a
Model RPG-18 Reaktive Panzerabwehrgranate, or "Reactive Anti-Tank Grenade (Launcher)". The term "RPG" is often
misquoted in English as meaning "Rocket Propelled Grenade", which is inaccurate, however close it may actually be to
the weapon's true design. The RPG-18 is almost a direct copy of the US Model M-72 LAW weapon. The RPG-18 fires a
64mm diameter rocket out to a 135 meter effective range and at 200 meters maximum range, at a muzzle velocity of 114 meters
per second. The weapon weighs 2.6 Kg and can penetrate 375mm of armor or 1 meter of concrete. Due to very restrictive
weapons laws of this period, very few RPG-18's are found in collections today.
